From the discussion between the Government and students last night I see a glimpse of hope in the future amid this turmoil. Although I disagree on students' idealistic or even Utopian views and endless complaints, I have to give it to them on their behavior and attitude during the meeting. At the very least they seem to really want to be productive, unlike the current pan-democratic leaders who only cause chaos and oppose to everything the government has to say. Hopefully they understand the economic and social development is as much as important as political development.
Yes their voices will not affect the outcome of the coming election, but they will be heard by the central government and will move the democratic process further. The HK government seem to give these young adults a chance to voice their point of views and groom them into future political leaders. If my wishful thinking turns into reality, HK has hope.
The culprit of occupy central were not the students, they were the 3 stupids and pan-democratic. The students were merely foot soldiers and I believe many of them has learned a lesson.
And in this morning's news finally CY has learned that vouching for the low income has backfired. Because no matter how your policies support low income groups they will not be satisfied and will keep complaining radically. However if you provide opportunities for them to work up the ladder they will become hardworking and productive for the society.
That is not to say support for the poor is not necessary, it is very important to give the poor the necessary support in housing, medical and education (I don't agree on living expenses and I won't go into the details and exploitation here). But asking for the poor's support is a mistake entirely.
